By the end of this training, you will be able to:
- Clearly articulate what Aqua Yoga is and how it differs from aqua fitness and land-based yoga
- Understand how buoyancy, resistance, and water pressure influence movement and breath
- Use subtle (energetic) and gross (physical) anatomy principles to inform your sequencing.
- Translate yoga principles and postures into safe, functional water-based practices.
- Have a clear understanding of foundational yoga philosophy.
- Know what types of sequencing works well in different pools.
- Keep students warm and engaged.
- Design well-structured Aqua Yoga classes (40-60 minutes)
- Adapt Aqua Yoga practices for different bodies, abilities, and conditions
- Teach with greater confidence, clarity, and ethical awareness.
Meet your instructor
This course is led by Katherine Winge, IAYT-certified yoga therapist, senior Aqua Kriya Yoga teacher, Mindful Self-Compassion trained teacher, LSSC Swim Instructor & Lifeguard.
With over 20 years of yoga practice and study with extensive experience teaching yoga in water and on land, in a variety of environments (from resorts to public libraries), Katherine is excited to share the fruit of her many years of teaching aqua yoga.
